The best time explore Ukraine is in spring, late April to early June, just when the snow is melting or even gone completely. The Orthodox rituals surrounding Easter are tremendous, this would be an excellent time for visitors who do not mind the huge crowds. Autumn is almost as alluring as spring, when the crowds disperse and the mercury falls to a more comfortable level.
In December and January, it is unpleasantly cold inland, particularly in the east. On the contrary, this is an excellent time to head to the Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine's skiing district. Travelers should reserve their lodging well in advance during the public holidays in the first weeks of January and May.
