Best Time to Travel to Spain

Spain is a destination you can tour any time of year. The ideal months to visit are May, June and September, and in the south April and October. During these months you can count on near perfect weather, while avoiding the extreme heat, not to mention the main rush of Spanish and foreign tourists in July and August. Winter along the southern and southeastern Mediterranean coastline is calmer, while in the peak of summer you can escape to the northwest, to the beaches or mountaintops, anywhere to relive from the extreme heat.

Some of the best festivals you should try to attend are mainly focused between Semana Santa, which is the week leading up to Easter Sunday, and September to October. Madrid regularly freezes in December, January and February and temperatures rise above 30°C (86F) in July and August. On the Mediterranean coastline and the Balearic Islands, they get a little more rain than Madrid and the south can get hotter in summer. Barcelona's weather is normal for the coast; they only experience mild humidity on rare occasions.
