Best Time to Travel to Romania

May and June are the best months to tour, followed by September and early October. This is the best time to visit the medieval painted monasteries in southern Bucovina, without the troubles of too many other tourists. If you are into bird watching, spring and autumn is the best time especially in the Danube Delta. Snow lasts as long as the middle of May or even later and the hiking season does not usually start until closer to June. The resorts alongside the Black Sea coastline get booked full up through late June and stay that way until mid-August.

In general, Romania's average weather is transitional between moderate regions and the severe weather characteristics of the continental interior. The average annual rainfall is 660mm, yet in the mountains it is typically over twice that amount, while in the Danube Delta it's often half that.
