If you are a sports nut, then around the month of August, when spring is in full bloom, is the best time to visit the Netherlands. Spring is a pleasant time to vacation for not only the colorful flowers and but the scenery is astonishing. Easter is the busiest time of year to visit in Amsterdam, nevertheless if you can visit during Koninginnedag, April 30th every year (an official holiday recognizing the Queens birthday); it is worth dealing with the crowds. The beginning of October with its Indian summer can be an exceptional time to come. In winter, the museums are quiet and less crowded at this time, and if everything freezes over, there is great ice-skating on the canals and flood plains.
