Libya is at its finest in October and November when the skies are cloudless, the temperatures are pleasant and, depending on the end-of-summer rainfall, the desert may have a greenish tint in places. The next best time to tour Libya is from March through to early May, even though there's a elevated chance of sandstorms in April and, by May, temperatures are actually starting to go up. December through to February is also a popular time, although temperatures can be astonishingly cold and nighttime temperatures in the Sahara regularly fall below zero. In the summer months from mid-May to September, temperatures can be violently hot; do not attempt to travel through the desert at this time no matter what.
