Best Time to Travel to Bulgaria

The climate in Bulgaria is a distinct instance of Mediterranean-meets-eastern-Europe. Summers have more wet days than the beginning of the year and are pleasingly hot and sunny, mostly averaging the low 30°Cs (high 80°Fs) and slightly fresher at higher altitudes. Winters are your characteristic European affair, little sunshine and days averaging between -4°C and 6°C (25-42°F).

Bulgaria has an average temperate climate, with cold damp winters and hot dry summers. Spring normally from April to mid-June is a good time to visit, with mild and enjoyable weather and a multitude of cultural events taking place. Summer, mid-June to September has consistent weather, perfect for hiking and outdoor celebrations, on the other hand, the beaches on the coast of the Black Sea can get extremely crowded, and accommodations and camping grounds in coastal resorts are inclined to fill up fast. The coast is deserted from mid-September to mid-May because of the weather. The skiing season normally does not start until the middle of December and normally lasts until the end of April.
