Nigeria is larger then the state of Texas in the United States and temperatures are hot countrywide year-round, peaking at about 35°C (95°F) in the spring; the moisture in the air is also continuous. Late spring to summer is the warmest time of the year in the north, sometimes peaking out at an extreme 45°C (113°F). The mercury falls from October to January at the arrival of the dusty harmattan winds. In the north the wet time of year lasts from May all the way through to October, while on the shore and inland there are a couple of wet seasons to be aware of, one long one that normally lasts form around March to July and a short-lived rainfall during September and October.
