Always bear in mind the climate when you plan a trip to Nepal. Estimate it wrong and you may never see the mountains. The best time to vacation is probably the start of the dry season in October and November when the weather is mild, the air is pure, visibility is just right and the countryside is flourishing following the monsoon. However, roads and trails that may have been damaged during the monsoon may not be restored until later in the year. There are numerous festivals and activities to enjoy as well.
The rest of the year is rather unpleasant for traveling, May and early June are usually too hot and dusty for comfort, and the monsoon from the middle of June through September block the mountains in clouds and turns trails and roads into mud. Flying is frequently the only way to reach remote areas at this time of year, and the western border passages to India are often impassable.
