Best Time to Travel to Mauritius

Mauritius encounters a hot and humid summer from December all the way through April and a cooler, drier phase from May to November. Nevertheless, the weather varies significantly across the island. On the shoreline, temperatures range from 25°C to 33°C (77-91°F) in summer and 18°C to 24°C (64-75°F) in the winter. On the highland areas, it will be fairly cooler. The high grounds are also the wettest part of the island, it rains all through the year and if it is not raining, there will regularly be low cloud. Because of the southeasterly winds, the east coast is to some extent cooler and soggier than the west. These winds are stronger during July and August and it can be gusty on the east coast, although the breeze brings greet relief in summer. The cyclone season lasts from December to March, even though direct strikes are extremely uncommon, cyclones out at sea can produce days of blustery rains.
