Madagascar’s west and southwest sides get extremely hot during the summer months from November to March, which makes traveling miserable. On the other hand, the winter months in these areas are enjoyable, with clear skies, cooler temperatures and no rain. However, in the east and northeast, be ready for rainfall and cloudy skies at any time, although when it does rain it usually does not last long during the winter months. Hotels, popular attractions and a good majority of all types of transportation, including planes and buses, fill up during European holiday periods, such as Christmas and Easter.
